Blood Orange Rosemary Spritz (Non-Alcoholic)

My favorite low-sugar holiday mocktail.

The ingredients are easily accessible and can be mixed to suit your palate. (Translation: You can't really screw this up!)

Ingredients:

  • Juice of one small blood orange
  • 1 sprig of fresh rosemary
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • Sparking water or kombucha of choice
  • Ice
  • Optional: Splash of Angostura bitters

Directions:

  1. Fill a glass with ice.
  2. Add the juice of one small blood orange and the fresh lemon juice.
  3. Lightly clap the rosemary sprig between your hands to release the oils, then add it to the glass.
  4. Top with sparkling water or kombucha of choice.
  5. Gently stir to combine.
  6. Optional: add a small splash of Angostura bitters.
  7. Garnish with the rosemary sprig and enjoy.

Nutritional Information

Pros:

Research has found that kombucha may help lower blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes, increase good gut bacteria, and boost levels of anti-inflammatory compounds or antioxidants in the body.

Cons:

Not all kombucha is created equal. Some bottles have 15-20 grams of sugar. That’s not far from Coca-Cola’s 39 grams of sugar. Then there’s the fizz factor: all that carbonation and acidity can trigger gastrointestinal issues.
